Help Shape Future CAPE Training Opportunities
The Colorado Association of Polygraph Examiners (CAPE) is committed to providing meaningful, relevant, and forward-thinking training opportunities for polygraph professionals across Colorado and beyond. As we look ahead to upcoming events and educational offerings, we want to hear from our members and colleagues about the topics that matter most to you.
One area of growing interest is Post-Conviction Sex Offender Testing (PCSOT) and Sex Offender Management. We are exploring the possibility of hosting a dedicated training program focused specifically on the unique challenges, best practices, and emerging trends in sex offender management and polygraph testing. This training would provide examiners with practical tools and valuable insights applicable to both treatment and supervision settings.
We are also considering a specialized training course on Forensic Accounting and Financial Investigations. As financial crimes continue to become increasingly sophisticated, understanding the fundamentals of forensic accounting can provide examiners and investigators with valuable context when handling fraud, embezzlement, and other financial-related investigations.
Beyond these topics, there are many other areas we believe deserve attention within the polygraph profession, including:
Behavioral Analysis and Investigative Assessment
Polygraph Case Study Presentations
Immigration-Related Polygraph Examinations
Therapy-Led and Therapeutic Polygraph Applications
Unique and Unconventional Polygraph Cases
Testing Modern Generations and Emerging Demographics
Conducting Examinations Across Different Cultures and Backgrounds
Addressing Public Perception and Responding to Negative Media Coverage
The Future of Polygraph in Law Enforcement Hiring
The Future of Polygraph in Fire Service Recruiting
Advances in Interview and Interrogation Practices
Emerging Research and Technology in Truth Verification
One area we are especially interested in expanding is case study-based learning. Some of the most valuable lessons in our profession come from real-world experiences. If you have worked an interesting, challenging, or educational polygraph case and would be willing to present it to your fellow examiners, we would love to hear from you. Sharing both successes and lessons learned helps strengthen the profession and benefits examiners at every experience level.
The strength of CAPE has always been its members and the collective knowledge they bring to the profession. As we plan future training events, our goal is to create programs that are practical, engaging, and directly applicable to the work our members perform every day.
If you have a training topic, case study, presentation idea, or would like to serve as an instructor for a future CAPE event, we encourage you to reach out to the Board of Directors. Together, we can continue advancing professionalism, education, and excellence within the polygraph community.
What training topics would you like to see CAPE offer in the future? We welcome your ideas and look forward to building the next generation of CAPE training opportunities.
