The Colorado Association of Polygraph Examiners (C.A.P.E.) was founded and officially registered as a corporation with the State of Colorado on February 23, 1962. The C.A.P.E. officially accepted as a Colorado Nonprofit Corporation on February 16, 1973, and has kept that status to this date.

To establish and maintain a standard of ethics and professional qualifications in the polygraph profession.
